I was at a friend's house a while back and I mentioned how reading has become a new hobby of mine, surpassing gaming on my list of hobbies. We tossed around a few books that I read, but then my friend mentioned The Shack by William P. Young and how it was one of the best books he had ever read. Little did I know that reading this book would rock my Christian foundation and call to question many truths I long held.

The elusive and mysterious Man in Black, played by Titus Welliver and Terry O'Quinn, was never given a name on Lost, a frustration many viewers shared. In the back story episode Across the Sea, where we first meet Jacob and his twin brother, we hear Jacob's name spoken many times, but never once was his brother's name mentioned. In fact he was always referred to as "your brother." Finally, with the Lost Encyclopedia on the verge of release, a snapshot was taken and his name is finally revealed. All the hoopla built up for this for this grand revealing moment. His name is...

ColdFusion can be a fun and dreadful language. There are a number of pros and cons to using it, the biggest con being that hardly anyone uses it. It is, however, extremely responsive. There comes a time, however, when I want to bang my head on my desk because of how a feature is built, or more importantly, what it lacks. A continue option is one such feature.

I am a huge fan of Lost. One of the show's strongest, and unfortunately most unfulfilled, elements is its mythology. There is a ton of mystery and mystique in the show, which is what got me hooked. Prior to reading The Circle Series, I had never heard of Ted Dekker. After completing this series and doing research on his other novels, I can say that I am, and am motivated to take my reading to a level I never would have imagined.

Creating a successful sequel is a difficult task. There are hundreds of examples of sequels that went wrong. Toy Story 2 took what was great about the first and made it even better, connecting with the child in us even more than the first did. For a second sequel, doing this again in a fresh way puts more pressure to make the movie the best in the series. Toy Story 3 is just that, the best of the series. Pixar has raised the bar, yet again.

Perhaps it was because the story was contained within a single book or that the book was well done, but The New Rebellion was an enjoyable read. As I push myself into reading more novels, I am starting to look forward to ending my day by lying in bed next to my wife, both of us reading a book. Just the other day I spent two hours reading The New Rebellion, something I have never done before. I was having such a good time reading that I did not want to put it down. It does have its weak points, but they are few and far between.
