Profile for Mathachew at Stack Overflow, Q&A for professional and enthusiast programmers

Hello, hallo, hola, and bonjour! My name is Matthew Miller and welcome to my site. I love to program, read lots of books, watch movies and play games, but my passion is my faith and family. What I’ve Done

I have experience in a number of industries for web development, which include, but are not limited to, music, non-profit, art, building automation, health care services, e-commerce, career placement, retirement planning, press and radio, restaurants, air conditioning and heating, fleet management and sports. For a full list of my work, please check out my Porfolio.

Education

School Duration Degree
John Ehret High School 08/1997 – 05/2001 General Studies
Cullier Career Center 08/2000 – 05/2001 Computer Repair I
Delgado Community College 08/2001 – 05/2002 None

My education experience ends there. I stopped going to college after I got married in 2002, so naturally I tell people that it was the best mistake I ever made. I have no formal education in software development and learned on my own and on the job. While I am not against going back to school to get a Computer Science degree, I thoroughly enjoy being out of school for the last 11 years.

Gaming

Starting from a very young to my relatively old age, I have enjoyed gaming. I like to play a variety of games, but since it can be a very expensive hobby, I do not indulge my desires of playing all of the ones I want (I wait to find a great deal). I used to play Team Fortress 2 heavily, but the game has drifted too far from what it used to be. On occasion I divert my gaming attention to my Xbox 360 whenever I happen upon a game for cheap or borrow one from a friend, but lately it has been used more for watching movies. I recently started Star Wars: The Old Republic and really enjoyed it, but have removed myself from the game because it’s addictive.

Reading

I like to read, nay, I love to read. I periodically post reviews of the books I recently read, sharing my unprofessional thoughts for my wonderful visitors. I do not post a review for every book I read, since posting a review can take upwards of an hour and I usually got through three or four books a month. I love reading thrillers, fantasies and science fiction, so if you have any recommendations, I am all ears. To put it simply, reading has become my new passion. I cannot help but wonder why I did not start doing it sooner. How foolish of me!
